As we officially launch Dandy Contacts, I thought it would be fitting to share with you our journey.
I started this company because of the frustration I experienced for as long as I have worn contact lenses. But let’s rewind back.
I resigned from my Corporate job to spend more time with my family. With some extra time on my hands, I was able to do that things I love. I read. I exercised. I started volunteering again. We played together as a family!
During this time off, I found a need to learn and challenge myself. As I was getting ready to head to a yoga class one morning, I went to grab my contact lenses and then realized I ran out….again.
I’ve always worn contact lenses. I was also used to the hassle of running out and getting (or waiting) for my refills. I was also overwearing my contact lenses - alot. Partly because I would forget and mostly because contact lenses are super expensive.
With some extra time on my hands, I started digging into why daily contact lenses are so expensive and discovered that there’s no magic, whatsoever.
I began to work with a global manufacturer directly and learned about the manufacturing process. We discussed the dry Canadian climate and how it would be great to have daily contact lenses that are suitable for all-day wear. Soon I realized that there is a way to remove complexities in the Supply Chain yet still deliver premium quality contact lenses that are affordable - direct to door when you want them.
After extensive research about the regulatory nature of contact lenses in Canada, I submitted Dandy Contacts for approval with Health Canada. I waited nervously. When final approval arrived - I was excited to see where this idea can go!
From there, my passion fuelled me and inspiration took over. My vision was to create a brand that is high quality and much better value to the consumer. I also wanted to create something that is different from what exists today. A brand that is fair, transparent, and gives back.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been to create a give back program for the next generation - our children. We call it “Our collective vision”. I believe all children should be given the opportunity to learn. For some, this is not possible because of poor vision. In researching a charitable organization we wanted to partner with, Seva Canada was the perfect fit. Based in Vancouver, Seva has been in operation for over 37 years. Their mission is to restore sight and prevent blindness in developing countries. We are so proud to partner with Seva Canada! For each new subscriber, Dandy will donate 1 pair of eyeglasses to a child in a low-income country. As a mom and now an entrepreneur, it feels so good to create a company in which giving back to our children is in the core of what we do!
As we carefully check each box of Dandy Contacts for shipping, I am so excited! I am excited to share with you a premium quality product that is ideal for the dry Canadian climate and it is affordable! So you can go on and live your life’s adventures!
Thanks for reading about our journey.
‘See’ you soon,
